Roland Timmerman

Roland Timmerman, geboren in Brugge, zette op jeugdige leeftijd zijn eerste muzikale stappen in de SFX-schoolharmonie aldaar. Voor contrabas behaalde hij het diploma “graad van uitmuntendheid” bij A. Messens. Als orkestmuzikant nam hij deel aan verscheidene muziekkampen van Jeugd en Muziek, zowel in binnen- als buitenland.

Hij vertegenwoordigde België als contrabasist in het Internationaal Jeugd en Muziek orkest te Budapest. Daarnaast speelde hij vele jaren als vast lid, zowel in het nationaal orkest van Jeugd en Muziek België als in het Jeugd en Muziek orkest te Antwerpen. In het Antwerps Kamerorkest was hij 20 jaar vaste contrabasist. Met dit orkest ondernam hij verscheidene concertreizen, o.a. naar Spanje, Schotland, Duitsland. Nu maakt hij deel uit van het ensemble “Entente Cordiale” en de Koninklijke Estudiantina “La Napolitaine”.

Roland Timmerman, born in Bruge, began his musical education at youthful age in the SFX school brass band. He obtained the diploma with a “degree of excellence” for double bass with A. Messens. As double bass player he played at several music festivals of “Jeugd en Muziek”, as well in Belgium as abroad. Roland represented Belgium as double bass player in the international “Youth orchestra” in Budapest. For many years he’s been a permanent member of the orchestras “Jeugd en Muziek België” and “Jeugd en Muziek Antwerpen”. During 20 years Roland has been the double bass player of the “Chamber Orchestra of Antwerp”, with whom he played several concerts in Spain, Scotland, Germany, … . Today he’s a member of chamber orchestra “Entente Cordiale”, and La Napolitaine’s double bass player.
