Florentina Claessen begon op 9-jarige leeftijd mandoline te spelen aan de academie “Jozef Van Poppel” te Deurne, waar zij les kreeg van mandolinevirtuoos Frans De Groodt en de hogere graad behaalde. Sinds 1954 is zij aangesloten bij “La Napolitaine”, waar zij eerst mandoline speelde en later eveneens mandola en mandoloncello. Ze beëindigde haar actieve muziekcarriere in 2013.

Florentina Claessen had her first mandolin lessons at the age of 9 from mandolin virtuoso Frans De Groodt at the Academy “Jozef Van Poppel” (Antwerpen-Deurne), where she obtained a ‘higher degree’ diploma. Since 1954 she’s a member of La Napolitaine, first as a mandolin player, later on as mandola soloist and the last years she played the mandoloncello in the orchestra. She finished her carriere as active musician in 2013.
